Character Profile

For this task I used Piktochart to make a character profile of my main character in my music video. I asked him about his hobbies, interests and what he likes to do in his free time.

Production diary- day 1

Diary day 1 During our day 1 filming day, we managed to get through a lot. We went to our first location which was a forest and filmed every shot that we needed in it. We chose different locations within the forest to make sure there was a whole range of different backgrounds. We encountered a few problems for example as the day went on, the sun started to set causing some shots that we filmed were a little to dark making us to change the position that we were filming and to find a different spot to film where the lighting was brighter. Another issue we had was when we came to look at the footage we saw that some of the shots we filmed were a little out of focus which meant we realised we would need to re do the shots again. We then changed location and walked to a road with cars and houses to film another location that we had chosen. We had a few troubles with cars passing as we didn't want any moving cars in background, because of the cars it caused us to wait for them to pa

Animatic

Image
For this task I used final cut pro to produce an animatic of all our shots and our storyboard of what our music video will look like. This made it a lot easier to use as it was a video that would go from one shot to another so you get the proper image of what the video will look like. We also added the music of the song we are using to it and to it to the correct images as not only would be able to get an idea of what images will be with what part of the song, it was easier when filming as we could double check we are doing it correctly.

Shot by shot

Image
This is my shot by shot, this tells us exactly what shot is taken and where and how long and exactly what type of shot and any additional positions of the character or camera. This along with the storyboard will help us a lot as we can see how many shots are going to be done in a forest, brick wall etc. This helps us so that we don't need to keep going back to the same place we can do all the shots in that one location together. This also helps for the future in doing the music video as we can see the details of what the clip needs to look like, what is happening and the angles and seconds of it.

Amended Treatment

Image
For this video we filmed our target audience to ask for there feedback on what we think we also need to know and if we were to change the idea what they would think about it. We used final cut to edit all the footage and to make it clear to the audience what the questions were. This helped us to get an idea of what they think of the new idea of performance/ narrative video instead of a conceptual video. This will help us in the future to know exactly what our target audience is looking for and what they expect. With the changes we got we are now changing our conceptual narrative to performance with the feedback we got as people didn't understand our conceptual idea.

Lip synching

Image
For this video we got our whole group together and recorded using one of our phones one of us lip synching the music to our song change. After this I edited it on final cut, muted the video sound and added the actual music in. I then added text saying the title of the song.

Institution permission

Image
For this task we emailed DreamVille Records to ask for permission to use there song as our music video. This is so we do not copy right and so we can use the track from the CD to our video and the fact we can get some response. We also emailed the artist to get further permission.

Final cut practice

Image
For this task, I used many tools on final cut for example rewinding the clip, making it faster, slower and repeating it. I used 4 clips out of the 6 that we were given and choose the song I thought that I thought would suit the clip the most. This task enabled me to explore more about final cut and get used to using all kinds if tools whilst staying in time to the beat.

Cutting to the beat

Image
For this task i had to choose a video, I chose a video that is one shot so it was easy for me to cut it with many different clips. I then chose my song which was the Icarly theme song as it had a obvious beat. I then cut my video to each beat of the song maybe it cut to every beat and then every other beat and even the video have repeats one after the other. I used final cut to do this all on and used youtube convertor to convert the video and song onto final cut.
